Summary: US - VN Green building Workshop was first held by Ministry of Construction and US Embassy on 16th April in Hanoi with an aim to discuss about standards and initiatives for green building in urban area of Vietnam. Economic Empowerment for Women and Green Building

Summary: “Economic Empowerment for Women” and “Green Building” are the central contents of a working session hosted in Hanoi on May 25, 2012 by Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan, Chairman of National Council for Sustainable Development with the Vietnam Business Council for Sustainable Development (VBCSD). The VGBC was earlier appointed as the team leader to draft the Green Building report for the VBCSD. On that occasion, the VGBC Executive Director presented and handed the Green Building report directly to the Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan. The report analyses barriers to development of green buildings and proposes five main recommendations to develop green buildings in Vietnam. In this national context of booming population and rapid urbanisation, the immediate adoption of green building will be crucial to ensure sustainable development in Vietnam.
